Consider this fact: every hour a forest the size of 300 football fields is being destroyed to feed the enormous consumption of products with palm oil.  The USA is a HUGE consumer of products containing palm oil.

Recently a picture was circulated on Facebook of a bloodied orangutan covering his or her head. It was too awful to be included on this page.

What can we do to help? As a consumer, your biggest weapon is where you choose to spend your money.
The oil palm is an agricultural crop that produces palm oil. Palm oil production, driven by so many products we use in our everyday lives, is the single biggest threat to the animals (many of which are endangered), the local villages and the forests in Indonesia and Malaysia.

What was lush dense forest 10 years ago is bulldozed and burnt
Some of the endangered animals in these areas include the orangutan, tiger, elephant
and rhinoceros. Not to mention the many birds and smaller creatures.

Since the practice is being driven by money, change comes hard.
Here is where the consumer comes in.
Palm oil is in food, cosmetics, cleaning products and personal body products

Be aware and look at labels. If any of these ingredients are listed, the product contains palm oil
